About Me

Hi, I'm Margaret! Thank you so much for coming to my site!
At the age of seven, I picked up knitting needles and never looked back. At the tender age of nine, I earned top honors at a historical re-enactment museum for knitting and hand-spinning skills.
While growing up I was encouraged to explore my passions, ranging from knitting and spinning to the works of Shakespeare, Beckett, and Jane Austen. As a homeschooler, I had myriad opportunities to explore my passions for fiber arts, history, and travel.
I have worked as a shopper at a top New York costume construction firm, and later for the world-famous Mood Designer Fabrics in the fashion district of Manhattan, where I learned even more about fiber and fabric arts and found a passion for sharing the joy of fibers with others.
With my husband Ben, a theatrical set designer, I explored the world of Russian textiles while working at a professional theater in St. Petersburg.
Throughout all my adventures, I have continued to design original garments and accessories, and to teach.
I make hats, socks, and sweaters for myself, friends, and clients, and have more recently started producing quilts, embroidery, and paper arts using a variety of techniques.
Most frequently I can be found working at my needles or sewing machine, or lying on the couch watching movies with my son, that guy I married and the pooch who has taken over our lives.
